Chuck's Parkinson's Story

Chuck’s Parkinson’s & Vivix Story
March 2011

Below is a story about my husband and his experience to date on Vivix, Shaklee's cellular anti-aging tonic. He has been on Shaklee supplements since 2001, but we have seen the most change since starting Vivix August 2008. The improvements became noticeable within 2 months.

Before Vivix, our goal was to keep him as healthy as possible so his body only needed to deal with Parkinson's.  Since Vivix, our goal has changed to repairing his DNA, reducing his symptoms and his medications; then use his personal experience to help others. I often reflect on why God put Shaklee in my path – and it’s times like this when I hear the answer.

Chuck is 80, I am 60; we’ve been married 26 years, have a blended family of 6 children and 16
grandchildren. He is my partner and the love of my life.

In 2003 Chuck was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease – a progressive neurological disorder with no
known cure. When you hear Parkinson’s you may think of Michael J. Fox, or the former Pope, who lived with Parkinson’s for many, many years. Chuck has a very positive attitude about his PD, he figures something would eventually get him, and it could be worse.
  • dementia
  • tremors in the hands and legs
  • impaired large and small muscle dexterity
  • slow walk, eventually becoming a shuffle
  • speech problems
  • hunched posture
  • drooling
  • balance and coordination issues
  • facial ‘mask’ – people with PD begin to lose their expression, have a quiet dullness about them, or as I refer to it, their lights go out
At Shaklee’s 2008 International Conference, when Vivix, our new cellular anti-aging tonic, was
announced, Dr. Jamie McManus, Director of Health Sciences at Shaklee, said people with diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and neurological diseases would have the most results. Well, you can imagine my cheer at that news!

Chuck began taking Vivix immediately and has been faithful with it every day since.

When asked how he feels today, he says he feels better but not sure exactly how. My report is that
improvement has been happening continuously - and it is these things in life that mean the most! He’s
back to:
  • laughing, smiling and making jokes
  • our Chiropractor says his body is more flexible
  • participating in group conversations
  • singing silly songs
  • we’ve been dancing again
  • he’s more engaged in life
  • the dementia that had set in has left
  • and best of all – when you look into his eyes, his lights are back on!
Is Vivix making a difference in Chuck’s health and in our life together? You bet it is! Some people say Vivix is expensive. I say Vivix is priceless.

They Took Him Off Of 5 Medications!

My Dad, who will be 82 at the end of this month, has kidney damage due to years and years of medications for various conditions.  But he has been on a full regimen of Shaklee supplements for a while now and has, over time and under his doctor's supervision, been able to eliminate five medications - two for cholesterol and one each for arthritis, blood pressure, and diabetes.  Not only have his cholesterol count, blood pressure, and blood sugar improved, but he has less pain from arthritis and the Creatine, Potassium, and other blood counts that are markers of poor kidney function have improved.

The med Dad eliminated most recently was Avandia, which the FDA placed a black-box warning on due to increased evidence of cardiovascular risk - after Dad had been taking it for some time.  He was relieved that he wasn't taking it any more and that his blood sugar was more, rather than less, stable.

It's NEVER too late to invest in improving one's health nutritionally.  Dad is living proof!

Why Suppliment? And If So, With What?

You've probably heard that eating an apple today doesn't have the same nutrient value as an apple did 50 years ago.  And that's true, it's been proven by scientific research.  Why is that?  Well, today we have industrialized our food supply to maximize volume, not necessarily quality.  The small family farm that puts a lot of effort into maintaining their soil and their crops is a losing venture anymore.  Plus it's become common practice to harvest produce before it is fully ripe and then force the produce to ripen as it's being transported to our grocery stores -  across many states or from far away countries.  When foods are harvested before they are fully ripe they do not contain the nutrients that they would when they ripen, and they will not develop those nutrients once they are cut off from the plant.  Then there's the issue of all those pesticides and herbicides that food producers use so they can maximize their profit from each crop.  For big businesses it's all about the bottom line.  We have allowed our food production to become an industrialized machine and have paid the price with our health.

Over-farming of the soil, premature harvesting and chemical sprays leave us with nutrient starved and contaminated produce, but it sure looks beautiful in the produce section of the grocery store!  Most of us realize that homegrown foods are much more healthy for us because when we're eating the produce of our own hands we are much more attentive to what we put into the soil and what we put on the produce, and we can take it from the garden to the table in just minutes.  But few of us even have vegetable gardens anymore and even fewer of us have the ability to grow enough food to feed our families.

Consider this:
  • We are willing to put premium gasoline into our vehicles but yet we hesitate to buy organic foods and quality nutritional supplements for ourselves and our children.  Yet we replace our vehicles every few years and we only get one body, one life.
